Design Internship

Atelier Ashley Flowers is growing more quickly than expected and I am always looking for new ways to innovate and depart from the status quo.  

I find that college students are enthusiastic hard workers with a wealth of knowledge to share when given the opportunity.

If you are passionate about community over competition while maintaining a business-oriented focus, this internship may be a good fit for you.  

This position would give the right person a great degree of creative responsibility while also managing regular day to day tasks. 

You will also be able to use me as a reference and gain invaluable insight into the inner workings of a small business. (Oh, you'll also have some fun and gain community connections:)

  • 3-month internship (trial period, and possible extension) 

  • Open September 1, 2017 

  • Available approximately 10 hours a week (flexible and subject to differ weekly) 

  • Internship for school credit 



  • Be interested and enthusiastic about design  

  • Be familiar with social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest) 

  • Be organized and a self-starter

  • Be happy and upbeat with a solution-oriented attitude 

  • Be ready to implement and develop new ideas 

  • Be a quick learner

  • Have transportation to my location in Old Town, Alexandria

  • Want to work with flowers!



  • Have prior garden or floral experience

  • Have an interest in photography and know how to take well composed photos 

  • Have a laptop (Mac) with Photoshop installed (not a requirement) 

  • Have an interest in spreadsheets and analytics

  • Have a knack for proofreading, including correcting spelling and grammar errors:/ 

  • Are already active on social media



  • Corsages and Boutonnieres

  • On-site installations

  • Creative concepting 

  • Photography and styling 

  • Social media

  • Developing Press Kits 

  • Developing Procedures Docs 

  • Prepping and conditioning flowers and studio 

  • Helping to maintain cutting garden 

  • Researching new sources 

  • And more
